Dr Tim Small is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in surgery of the Hip, Knee and Orthopaedic trauma.

Dr Small completed his medical training at the University of Auckland in 2002. His internship and basic surgical training were at St Vincent’s Hospital (NSW) and in 2008 was selected for advanced surgical training in orthopaedic surgery. He completed his orthopaedic specialist training in Sydney in 2011 after obtaining his fellowship examination (FRACS).

In 2012, Dr Small undertook a 6 month fellowship in hip and knee reconstructive surgery at St Vincent’s Hospital (NSW) under Associate Professor Ian Woodgate and Dr John Rooney. This was followed by a six month advanced knee fellowship under Dr Andy Williams in London (UK). He was predominantly involved in the orthopaedic management of sports professionals from premiership football, national rugby and cricket teams. A further six months of advanced knee fellowship at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa, Cape Town under Dr Willem Van Der Merwe followed on from London.

As a result, Dr Small’s experience in the latest techniques for hip arthroplasty, knee arthroplasty and arthroscopic knee reconstruction is broad. This education and technology is incorporated into his practice.

Currently, Dr Small is affiliated with the University NSW as a Conjoint Associate Lecturer. He has an active interest in research, having presented at national meetings and published in international journals.
