Dr. James Chau is a consultant upper
gastrointestinal surgeon, specialising in weight loss surgery, upper gastrointestinal
surgery, minimally invasive laparoscopic hernia repair, endoscopy, general and
bariatric surgery.
He is a Consultant Surgeon at St George
Private, Kareena Private, Dubbo Private, and Figtree Private Hospitals.
He is an Accredited Bariatric Surgeon
at St George Private Hospital, Centre of Excellence in Bariatric Surgery.
After graduating from The University of
Sydney he was accepted into the surgical training program in his first residency
year. Dr. Chau completed his Advanced Surgical Training in the minimum required time
of four years. He went on to complete Fellowship in Hepatobiliary Surgery at The
Canberra Hospital, and Fellowship in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery and Bariatric
Surgery at St George Private and Public
Hospitals. During his Fellowship year
at St George Private Hospital, he gained considerable experience in complex
revisional bariatric surgery, and advanced laparoscopic surgery.
Dr. Chau’s main interests are weight
loss and metabolic surgery. He has researched extensively in Sleeve Gastrectomy and
Revisional surgery for failed Gastric Bands and has presented scientific papers in
International and National Meetings.
He specialises in revision of gastric
bands, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, revisional bariatric surgery, and
metabolic surgery for diabetes.
