Dr. Shillingford is a general surgeon who specializes in advanced laparoscopic and obesity surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of General Surgery.

Dr. Shillingford started his academic career with a bachelors in Biology at the University of Michigan, and graduated from the University of Michigan’s Medical School in Ann Arbor on a medical school tuition scholarship. He then proceeded to do his residency in general surgery at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. This was followed by a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic and obesity surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida.

He is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), the American Medical Association, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and the Indian American Physician Association. He is also a fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).

He keeps himself up-to-date with the latest advances in surgical techniques by attending multiple scientific meetings and training programs to learn and implement new and improved techniques and materials for the best of his patients. In addition to his practice, he also has a keen interest in research and has participated in various projects, including the investigation of hormonal receptors and psychological effects of overeating. Dr. Shillingford believes in extending his knowledge and expertise to others as well, and has participated, since his early years, in medical education, as a volunteer for the American Red Cross and other medical nonprofit clinics. He has presented many lectures on general and weight loss surgery to community and physician groups, and has been active in local health fairs and community meetings. He has been interviewed by many local magazines and community associations on weight loss surgery, obesity and health.

In recognition for his expertise in the fields of general and weight loss surgery, Dr. Shillingford has been proctored by the Realize Gastric Band, Allergan and Covidien Companies.

Dr. Shillingford has operating privileges at West Boca Medical Center, Coral Springs Medical Center, Northwest Medical Center, North Broward Medical Center and University Hospital. He is dedicated to providing state-of–the-art care with empathy and concern for the comfort and well-being of his patients and their families.

In his free time, Dr. Shillingford enjoys spending time with his family and loves outdoor activities including cycling, paddleboarding, surfing and coaching his son’s soccer team.

A native of Ireland, Dr. Martin Roche is Chief of Orthopaedics at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Surgical Director at Holy Cross Orthopaedic Institute. He joined Holy Cross Hospital in 1996 and has since performed thousands of reconstructive joint procedures. He is a pioneer in minimally invasive techniques for joint replacements, robotics, and sensor applications. He specializes in advanced Autologous cartilage implantation for the knee. Gastric Sleeve Surgery procedure works by restricting food intake without any bypass of the intestines or malabsorption. With decreased appetite and caloric intake, weight loss is achieved with the help of Gastric Sleeve, aka Sleeve Gastrectomy. The stomach is restricted by dividing it vertically, creating a small vertical stomach pouch shaped like a banana. The new stomach pouch measures 2-5 ounces.
