From a young age,
Dr. Sayed has excelled among his peers. After graduating valedictorian of the largest graduating high school class in the state of Texas, he undertook studies in electrical engineering and computer science at Berkeley, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with Highest Honors. He then pursued his childhood dream of becoming a surgeon and graduated as one of the top students in his class at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine – an entering class that was rated #1 for student selectivity in the U.S. News and World Report rankings of medical schools. He achieved membership in the exclusive Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society, an honor bestowed on only the top 15% of medical students. He then completed the rigorous general surgery residency at Harvard Medical School's oldest and most renowned teaching hospital: Massachusetts General Hospital, currently ranked as the #1 hospital in the United States in US News and World Report. To complete his training, he returned to UC San Francisco for plastic surgery residency, where he learned from internationally recognized leaders like Dr. Stephen Mathes, who wrote the book (literally) on complex reconstructive surgery; Dr. Harry Buncke, who invented microsurgery; Dr. Ronald Gruber, one of the world's preeminent rhinoplasty experts, and others.
