Dr Alex Polyakov is a Fertility Specialist, and a Consultant Obstetrician/Gynaecologist at Epworth Freemasons hospital, St. Vincent’s Private Hospital, Frances Perry House, Royal Women’s Hospital and Melbourne IVF.

After graduating from the University of Adelaide in 2000, Alex completed his internship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital before moving back to Melbourne to start his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

He trained at various hospitals, including Monash Medical Centre, Dandenong Hospital and Box Hill Hospital, and completed formal fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Reproductive Biology Unit of the Royal Women’s Hospital, Melbourne IVF and Monash IVF. His mentors include pioneers in diverse areas of women’s health including A/Prof John McBain, Dr Mark Lawrence, Dr Andrew Spiers, Prof Beverly Vollenhoven, and Dr Michael Gronow among others.

Dr Polyakov has earned his reputation as a highly regarded Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon. He is oneof very few specialists in Melbourne who performs majority of gynecological and fertility-related procedures including myomectomies (removal of fibroids) and hysterectomies (removal of uterus) via minimally invasive laparoscopic (“keyhole”) surgery.

In addition, Dr Polyakov is a leading specialist in Microsurgery, which includes Tubal Ligation Reversal and Vasectomy Reversal operations. He also specializes in Andrology, which manages male causes of infertility such as abnormal sperm count. This expertise has further expanded since he started working in Sydney in 2008.
