Mr Senapati completed his higher surgical training from the University of Wales, Cardiff. In 2000 he undertook a travelling fellowship to Sloan-Kettering Memorial Hospital, New York to enhance his knowledge and understanding of the management of cancers of stomach and gullet. In addition he spent time with Professor M Gagnor at Mount Sinai Medical School and Hospital to keep up to date with modern techniques in relation to obesity surgery.

In 2003 Mr Senapati was then appointed as a consultant surgeon to the Pennine Acute NHS Trust Hospitals to lead management of Cancers of the oesophagus and stomach. In addition also to develop minimal invasive surgery especially hernia and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease.

Mr Senapati has visited National Cancer Centre at Tokyo to participate in the International Symposium for promotion of research in gastric cancer and spent two weeks with the gastric cancer surgeons at the centre to enhance his knowledge and patient care.

He has also presented at the International Society for the diseases of the oesophagus at Adelaide in 2004 and spent two weeks with Professor Jamiesson to further enhance his understanding on Gastro-oesphageal reflux disease.

Mr Senapati has presented and participated in the International Gastric Cancer Congress at Sao Paulo in 2007.

He was appointed as Honourary Consultant Surgeon at the Academic unit of Surgery at Homerton University Hospital, London to further enhance his surgical skills in Obesity Surgery.

Currently he is appointed as a Consultant Bariatric Surgeon at Salford Royal Foundation Trust, Manchester since May 2009.
