Skin Rejuvenation

A Good Comprehensive Skin Care regimen is essential for healthy and glowing skin and includes the following:

Cleansing

Cleansing removes the dirt, pollutants and pore-clogging oil from the surface of the skin. A cleanser should always be chosen based on the skin type. Cleansers for dry and sensitive skin should be free of alcohol. Moreover, cleansers for very dry skin should be creamier.

Oily skin acts as a dust magnet which may clog the pores leading to skin problems such as acne, blackheads and others skin problems. An acidic cleanser is preferred for oily skin. For proper cleansing, the cleanser should be massaged on the face for at least 20 seconds. Facial cleansers should always be soap-free as the facial skin is more sensitive than the skin of the rest of the body.

Sun protection

Exposure to the sun’s harmful UV rays causes wrinkles, age spots and even skin cancer. Thus mid-day sun, between 10 am and 3 pm, should be avoided. However, if you still have to venture out under sunlight, a generous amount of sunscreen with sun protection factor (SPF) greater than 15 with UVA and UVB coverage should be applied at least 20 minutes before going out. Moreover, while in sunlight, the sunscreen should be reapplied every 3-4 hours and after swimming. Use of wide brimmed hats, long sleeved shirts and full pants while going in the sun can also reduce exposure to the sun.

Sun protection decreases vitamin D levels so if levels are deficient, supplementation with Vitamin D should be considered.

Drinking water

55% to 75% of our body is composed of water. Moreover, water helps to remove toxins from the body and skin. A well hydrated skin looks plump and smooth. The body constantly utilizes water for various processes and water is also lost through breathing and sweating. One should drink at least 2 litres of water every day to keep the skin hydrated.

Essential fatty acids (EFAs) in diet

EFAs are fatty acids that cannot be synthesized by our bodies and hence must be supplemented through our diet. EFAs play a critical role in maintaining normal skin function and appearance. They also protect the skin from UV damage and photo ageing. Consuming food rich in omega-3 fatty acids or taking omega-3 supplements improves the skin health and protects it from damage. Omega-3 is found only in certain foods such as walnuts, spinach, kidney beans, safflower oil, flaxseed and cold-water fish like salmon and sardines.

Antioxidants intake

Antioxidants are the free radical scavenging substances found in natural food such as fruits, vegetables and seafood. They stimulate the synthesis of collagen, the structural component of the skin, and promote smooth, plump and youthful skin. Vitamin C and vitamin E are particularly beneficial to the skin. Citrus fruits are rich in vitamin C while vitamin E is found in nuts and vegetable oils. Other antioxidants, beneficial to the skin, include selenium, thiamine, beta carotene and zinc.

Dry Skin Care

Some people have inherent dry skin while others develop it as a result of natural and age related changes to the skin. Extensive dry skin is more prone to dermatitis and eczema. This can be prevented by keeping the skin well moisturized which can be done by following these simple steps:

Take only short baths/showers with lukewarm water
    Use a soap with moisturizer
Apply moisturizer, all over the body, just after the bath/shower
Use cream instead of body lotion during winter months

Alain Elbaz, Anterior Hip Replacement, Cypress TX

Alain Elbaz, MD.
Alain Elbaz, Hip replacements

Alain Elbaz, M.D. relocated his practice from Montreal, Canada and has practiced orthopedic surgery in Houston, Texas since 1998. He is a founding member of Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine L.L.P. Dr. Elbaz graduated from the University of Montreal in Orthopedics in 1993. He is ABOS board certified in Orthopedics and Sports medicine.

He has performed many hip replacements and was  very satisfied with the outcomes of this operation, but the healing process was often very slow for patients with standard hip replacements. The most common problem with the standard techniques was that they involved cutting through healthy muscle and tendon. This causes weakening of the muscle and more extensive scar tissue leading to longer rehab times (typically 3 -6 months).

He “discovered” the new operating table invented by Dr. Joel Matta by accident in 2006, when another surgeon at his hospita ordered one to help him fix pelvic fractures. After obtaining information about the procedure he went to visit Dr. Matta in California. He trained in the anterior muscle sparing hip replacement procedure with Dr. Joel Matta on two occasions in 2006 and 2008. He started doing the operation in July 2006 and to date has done several hundreds of anterior hip replacements.

Anterior hip replacement is slowly catching on in the orthopedic community. The slow rate of adoption is probably due to the fact that it is not routinely taught in residency programs. This should change as more orthopedists start performing it and teaching it.

This operation allows the surgeon access to the hip joint without cutting into any muscle, and with the aid of real time x-ray he is able to place the components in the optimal position and assure optimal leg length.

Dr. Elbaz enjoys practicing at Advanced Orthopedics because of the emphasis that is placed on providing patients with the most current, peer-reviewed treatments in a friendly down to earth atmosphere.

Dr Alain Elbaz is Board Certified in Orthopedics and Sports medicine through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). Anterior hip replacement allows the surgeon access to the hip joint without cutting into any muscle, and with the aid of real time x-ray he is able to place the components in the optimal position and assure optimal leg length. From The Ground Up, Irving TX

At FTGU, we focus on getting doctors paid. Through our two primary services – Insurance A/R Recovery and Secondary Claims Management – we pursue unpaid insurance claims and utilize our proven recovery methodology to collect on every claim. That methodology includes tracking EVERY unpaid claim to a final resolution; either the claim gets paid or we tell you why. That is what makes us different and that is what makes us remarkably effective.

For most traditional billing companies, the primary objective is timely, “clean claim” submission. But what happens when clean claims are denied? How much feedback does a physician get about unpaid claims—why they were denied and how to get them paid? Unfortunately, the answer to these questions is too often a mystery. That’s where FTGU can help!

At FTGU, we track every unpaid claim beginning with the First Zero Pay. We assign an easy to understand denial code that explains the reason for the denial and the steps that can be taken to get the claim paid. Then WE do the work. Whether it’s coding mistakes, a request for medical records, or a verification of benefits issue, we do what is necessary to get you paid. And for those claims that can’t be recovered, we provide a detailed analysis that allows you to stop making repetitive mistakes that reduce your cash flow and cost you money.

We apply this methodology to our Secondary Claims Management and A/R Recovery services. When combined, these services provide a complete Claims Management Lifecycle and allow physicians to eliminate lost revenue due to billing inefficiencies.

Our Mission
To build and maintain a company that people can trust

Our Goal
To strive to become better daily and to keep our practices happy and well informed

Our Vision
To be your advocate and have someone on your side as we make a lifetime relationship our #1 focus

Dr. Suri graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in New Orleans. He completed his premedical studies at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He attended medical school at The Chicago Medical School, graduating with a Masters of Science in Pathology as well as an M.D. degree. During medical school, Dr. Suri was honored with membership in the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.

Following medical school, Dr. Suri returned to New Orleans to complete his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation, where he trained under Deryk G. Jones, M.D. After residency, Dr. Suri received further subspecialty training as a Sports Medicine Fellow at the prestigious Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas in Greenville/Spartanburg, South Carolina. While there, Dr. Suri trained under the direction of Richard J. Hawkins, M.D., the renowned sports and shoulder surgeon, and Drs. Steven B. Singleton, Douglas Wyland, Michael J. Kissenberth, Jason W. Folk and Stefan J. Tolan. The Fellowship at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas provided an ideal learning environment for an aspiring sports surgeon. It was a great educational experience with one of the leaders in the world of sports medicine, Dr. Richard J. Hawkins. During the last month of his Fellowship year, Dr. Suri spent time training under Marc Philippon, M.D., the prominent hip arthroscopic surgeon.

During the one year of Fellowship training at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas, the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) selected Dr. Suri as one of three Traveling Fellows. Through this great opportunity, Dr. Suri visited 12 orthopaedic and arthroscopic centers of excellence throughout the United States over the course of a month. The AANA Traveling Fellowship involved giving lectures and the exchange of clinical and research ideas with many of the leading arthroscopic surgeons in the United States. As a lecturer, Dr. Suri presented his research on microfracture and cartilage healing at the various arthroscopic centers visited during the AANA Traveling Fellowship.

Remarkably, a second Traveling Fellowship was awarded to Dr. Suri, as he was again honored and received the Orthopaedic Research Foundation of the Carolinas (ORFC) Traveling Fellowship from Dr. Hawkins, visiting preeminent shoulder and knee orthopaedic surgeons in Europe for 1 month. During the ORFC Traveling Fellowship, Dr. Suri visited with and studied under Pascal Boileau, M.D., in Nice, France; Gilles Walch, M.D. in Lyon, France; Laurent Lafosse, M.D., in Annecy, France; and Alberto Gobbi, M.D., in Milan, Italy.

As a Fellow, Dr. Suri was head team physician for Chesnee High School and assistant team physician for University of South Carolina-Upstate, the Greenville Drive baseball team (Class A Affiliate of Boston Red Sox), and the Colorado Rockies during Spring Training in Tucson, Arizona. Dr. Suri is particularly proud of his service assisting Dr. Hawkins in providing orthopedic and sports medicine care to the students and athletes at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind. As a Resident he assisted Dr. Deryk G. Jones with the New Orleans Hornets.

He is member of the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine (AOSSM) and has recently been inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). A member of the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society, Dr. Suri concentrates his research in the areas of biomechanics of the throwing athlete and cartilage healing. His research is also ongoing at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas with projects involving basic science research studying microfracture and cellular migration during cartilage healing, neurohistology of the biceps tendon and studying the use of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation to relieve pain after shoulder surgery. Dr. Suri’s research studying microfracture and cartilage healing is under the guidance of Juan (Jay) J. Rodrigo, M.D., a pioneer in the field of microfracture surgery and cartilage healing.

Dr. Suri has published a study in the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (2008), entitled, “Relationships between ball velocity and throwing mechanics in collegiate baseball pitchers.” This highlights Dr. Suri’s interest in the in the overhead athlete, and he frequently sees high level throwers and overhead athletes in his practice.

A two-time tennis champion in medical school and state champion in high school, a varsity letterman in college football; and an avid golfer, soccer, and volleyball player, Dr. Suri enjoys most all athletics.

Dr. Suri’s clinical subspecialty practice involves sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle. Dr. Suri is experienced in microfracture cartilage surgery, hip arthroscopy, elbow arthroscopy, knee arthroscopy, shoulder surgery, arthroscopic rotator cuff surgery, arthroscopic shoulder instability surgery, biceps tendon surgery, shoulder replacements, reverse shoulder replacements, the Latarjet shoulder procedure for instability, arthroscopic suprascapular nerve decompression, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, knee meniscus repair, knee osteotomies, and complex multi-ligament knee reconstruction.

Dr. Suri regularly performs ‘anatomic’ ACL reconstructions on athletes, as well as shoulder instability/labral repairs on athletes.

Pediatric patients are seen frequently in Dr. Suri’s sports clinic. Pediatric extra-physeal ACL reconstruction is a highly subspecialized procedure in that it is an ACL reconstruction technique that does not violate the growth plate in pediatric patients that are still growing. This method of ACL reconstruction has long term follow-up and minimizes the risk of any angular growth deformity. Dr. Suri performs the extra-physeal ACL reconstruction in pediatric athletes with ACL tears.

The Tommy John procedure (ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction of the elbow) is also one of Dr. Suri’s specialties. This procedure is typically performed on throwers, overhead athletes, or contact athletes.

Having trained under Dr. Hawkins, one of the pioneers in shoulder replacements, Dr. Suri does shoulder replacements regularly, both the conventional type and reverse type, as well as resurfacing shoulder arthroplasty.

Dr. Suri has performed over 220 hip arthroscopic surgeries and regularly performs complex bony work and labral repairs. Dr. Suri is a member of the International Society of Hip Arthroscopy and is on the forefront of this emerging field, both in clinical practice and in research. In addition to the research projects mentioned above, Dr. Suri currently has several ongoing research studies in hip arthroscopy underway. Dr. Suri also has surgical privileges at Children’s Hospital where he performs complex pediatric hip arthroscopic surgery. These hip arthroscopy cases at Children’s Hospital often involve Perthes’ disease or hip arthroscopy after slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE) surgery. One of the current hip arthrocopy research projects was featured in Orthopedics Today.

Dr. Suri is an Associate Master Instructor for the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA). He travels to the Orthopaedic Learning Center in Rosemont, Illinois to teach orthopaedic surgeons how to perform arthroscopic procedures, such as hip arthroscopy.
