The ICENI Centre, Colchester Essex

The ICENI Centre has been at the forefront of laparoscopic training and research for over 20 years. The Centre was established to share the knowledge of the early pioneering laparoscopic work performed at Colchester Hospital and its work and reputation progressed steadily as increasing numbers of advanced laparoscopic surgeons were attracted to Colchester Hospital.

In 2011 the ICENI Centre took a significant step forward with a joint venture between Anglia Ruskin University and Colchester Hospital enabling the construction of a purpose built and state of the art facility to house the Centre. The joint venture has paved the way for the substantial involvement of a large number of surgeons operating within the region. This influx of expertise into the ICENI Centre has provided an exceptional breadth and depth of surgical talent with which to deliver the training, research and development activities of the Centre.
Professor Roger Motson, Director of the ICENI Centre

Professor Motson was one of the pioneers in Laparoscopic Surgery in the UK. He has been involved in all aspects of advanced Laparoscopic Surgery since 1989 and established one of the first training courses in 1992.

‘It is my pleasure to welcome you to the ICENI Centre. Our educational courses are continually developed to reflect the current position in each subject area and to provide delegates with a sound knowledge base.’
